GROUP One winner Shezallapples proved she is on target for another feature victory with her win in Penrith last night.
Having her third run from a seven-month spell, Shezallapples captured a heat of the popular Carousel Series.
As such, the David Thorn-trained mare will tackle the $50,000 Final at Tabcorp Park Menangle on April 28.
“I’m very pleased with her run, she did really well,” Thorn said. “I was happy with first start when she was just beaten after being taken on a bit, but I reckon it flattened her for her second start.
“After that run I freshened her up for few days, and she worked on Monday and she went well for a mare which isn’t a good track worker, so I expected a good run in the heat.
“I will give her a couple of easy days again, then head to Final in couple of weeks.”
Following her Group Two appearance Shezallapples will be aimed at the New South Wales Breeders’ Challenge.
The daughter of Sportswriter captured the Final as a two-year-old before finishing third behind Royal Story and Dont Think Twice in last season’s $153,000 decider.
“The Breeders’ Challenge is on the cards for her next, then if she is going well enough at the time, she has the Breeders’ Crown down in Victoria at end of the season.”
