IT STILL hasn’t really hit me…it’s like a dream.
That was the comment from Kima Frenning when discussing her success with Wrappers Delight at Tabcorp Park Melton last night.
Frenning combined with the son of Bettors Delight to capture a Vicbred Super Series Final, giving the reinswoman her maiden Group One victory.
“It is amazing,” Frenning said. “I’m still on a high this morning.
“To be given the opportunity to drive in such a race is an honour, but to win it is an enormous thrill.
“I’ve had family and friends from back home calling and messaging me and I’m just so excited.
“I can’t thank everyone enough to allowing me to drive such wonderful horse in a race like that.”
Winner of his heat before a gutsy semi-final second, Wrappers Delight outstayed his rivals by racing in the breeze before scoring from Jilliby Kung Fu and Sirletic in 1:55.6 over 2240 metres.
The trifecta also doubles as a great promo for Australian Pacing Gold given bidding for its On-line Mixed Sale closes this evening.
“I felt he had a good chance before the race, but with so many nice horses in it, I wasn’t overly confident,” Frenning said.
“He just kept finding up the straight and did a great job.”
To be given a short break, the David Aiken-trained four-year-old will then be primed for next month’s Breeders’ Crown.
