ELECTRIFYING youngster Ignatius is in a prime position to complete a ‘perfect 10’ at Tabcorp Park Menangle tomorrow.
Fresh from his demolition of the Alabar Breeders’ Challenge series, Ignatius is unbeaten from nine starts this term.
Beginning his campaign with a pair of wins in Tasmania for Todd Rattray last January, the son of Roll With Joe was transferred to Rattray’s New South Wales-based brother, James, in March.
Ignatius has continued his scintillating form with James, including a 12-metre victory in the Group One at Menangle a fortnight ago.
“I gave him a few light days after the Breeders’ Challenge Final, then it was straight back into it,” James said. “Everything seems great and I am really happy with him.”
Ignatius is poised to tackle an Australasian Breeders’ Crown heat, where he is a $1.04 favourite after drawing the pole in a field of six.
“It’s not a big field, but it is strong as there are few good ones in it,” Rattray said. “He’s drawn to lead throughout, which is what we will be trying to do.
“He feels like he is still on the way up and will be at his peak later in the series.
“There is a fair bit of time between the heats and second round, so I will likely give him a start in between.”
