IF YOU’RE in the Ballarat area do yourself a favour by tracking down Michael Stanley and company.
Following Petacular’s success in this afternoon’s Breeders’ Crown Final a strong gathering is expected to converge at a local pub owned by some of the filly’s connections.
“To finish off her season like this is fantastic,” Stanley said. “We’ll be downing a few drinks in Ballarat tonight.
“It could be a long celebration, but one we will certainly enjoy.”
With Stanley in the cart, Petacular led throughout from barrier three to score from Miss Graceland and Partyon, rating 1:56.2 over 2240 metres.
Capturing her second Group One, the outstanding daughter of Somebeachsomewhere stretched her record to an impressive 19 wins and seven placings from 26 starts for earnings of $454,083.
Petacular’s has also run six Group One placings, including the Australian Pacing Gold Final.
To be sent for a spell, the three-year-old is expected to make the transition to open company next season.
“She’ll have a month to six weeks off now,” Stanley said. “She comes back on a pretty tough mark being C10, but she’s an M0, which is where we will start off.
“I can’t see any reason why she can’t progress to open mares’ company and contest races such as the Ladyship Mile and Queen Of The Pacific next season.”
