The Miracle Mile Outsider
February 17, 2018 National Trotguide

Reinsman Robbie Morris is under no illusions about his chances of winning Saturday’s Ainsworth Miracle Mile with rank outsider Charlaval.
Taking his place as the underdog in the field, Charlaval, trained by Morris’ partner KerryAnn Turner, qualified for the big race after finishing third to Anything For Love on Saturday.
Morris was stoked with the five-year-old gelding’s performance and the way the horse pulled up after qualifying.
The race is named the Miracle Mile and although it might not take a miracle for Charlaval to win, it would certainly need to improve against this talented field.
“At the end of the day we have to be realistic about our chances,” Morris said.
“But he is entitled to take his place there.
“He is going good and deserves his chance.
“We know we’re the underdog but if he gets a little bit of luck then he’ll do us proud.”
Hindered by a poor barrier draw in barrier eight, Charlaval will have to be at his best to cause an upset.
Morris realises there are a number of runners standing in his way of claiming the prizemoney.
“I thought Jilliby Kung Fu’s run in the Chariots Of Fire and Anything For Love’s wins were huge,” Morris said.
“Lazarus could be hard to beat if he is on song and healthy.
“He is an out and out champion horse and has a genius trainer in Mark Purdon.”
