CLASSY squaregaiter Magicool is ready to kick-off his country cups campaign on a winning note according to trainer Chris Svanosio.
Fresh from his success at Tabcorp Park Melton last Saturday night, Magicool will tackle Thursday evening’s Kilmore Trotters’ Cup.
The Group Three is the first leg of the rich provincial features, which Svanosio plans to follow closely with the gelding.
“He put in a great run on Saturday night and has pulled up really well,” Svanosio said. “Kilmore will be another good test for him and I’m looking forward to it.
“He’s always been a nice horse and won some good races with Matty Craven, but he is still lightly-raced and learning a bit.
“He’s going against open class horses yet has only had 19 starts.
“If he can stay injury free, and I can get some consistent racing into him, he can improve with experience.
“This is the first of several Cups I have in mind for him during the season.”
To be driven by Svanosio, Magicool has drawn barrier six – wedged between his two main dangers.
Everybody Knows will begin from gate five, with Cruisin Around to come from seven.
“Kate’s drive (Gath, Everybody Knows) is going well, so is Cruisin Around,” Svanosio said. “They are the pair to beat.
“Maori Law is also a nice trotter and can’t be taken lightly even from the second row.”
