AN IMPRESSIVE draw and winning form would traditionally be the prerequisites for confidence heading into a race.
Winner of three of his last four starts – including his two most recent outings – Golden Year has drawn to lead once again at Albion Park tonight.
The son of Art Major led during his last two starts and will begin from barrier two this time around!
But for trainer Ron Sallis, Golden Year’s form and draw are counteracted by the appearance of Lincoln Road.
Also in top form, winning his last three outings, Lincoln Road will begin from gate six for trainer Alistair Barnes.
“Golden Year is working as good as ever…he’s really good on the tooth,” Sallis said. “I couldn’t be happier with him.
“He’s got a little bit of gate speed and I expect him to lead and hold the top, which will make him hard to beat.
“That said, I’m not sure he can beat Lincoln Road as he is a very good one and has beaten us before.
“He is also up in class, so it’ll be interesting to see how he goes.”
Sallis also has The Boys GNP in the field, with the gelding to come from the pole.
“The Boys GNP is no star, but is handy, and should good get a good trip from there,” Sallis said. “I was happy with his last run when he sat outside Lincoln Road and finished second.
“His work has been solid and with the right run could upset them.”
