PREMIER trainer Emma Stewart is expected to enjoy another highly-successful night at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday.
Having dominated last week’s Empire Stallions Vicbred Super Series semis at the same venue, Stewart holds a strong hand in several Finals.
Just to recap, Stewart won eight of the 12 qualifiers to smash a 77-year-old record for the most wins at a Victorian metropolitan meeting.
Before her amazing performance Stewart was one of eight ‘quintet trainers’, with T Butterworth the first to achieve the feat at Ascot on May 26, 1941.
Although Stewart’s quantity won’t be as high this weekend – given she is only contesting six races – the quality is certainly up.
Stewart has runners engaged in five Group Ones, including numerous favourites.
In 2016 and 2017 Stewart won five semis before returning the following week to capture three Finals.
Stewart’s 2018 assault on the majors kicks off with Kualoa and Two Times Better in the Two-Year-Old Fillies’ Final.
Winners of their semis, Kualoa and Two Times Better have drawn five and 12.
Stewart then has Shes Magnetic, Tell Me Tales and Flying Moth in the Four-Year-Old Mares’ Final.
Winner of her eight starts this term, Tell Me Tales hasn’t experienced defeat since winning last season’s three-year-old division.
The daughter of Tell All is once again the one to beat from gate five.
Like their filly counterparts, Fourbigmen and Hurricane Harley secured their semis and are poised to play strong roles in the Two-Year-Old Colts’ and Geldings’ Final.
Hurricane Harley has fared best in the pole, with Fourbigmen drawn to gain the perfect trail from the inside of the second row.
The pair will be joined by their stablemates Centenario, Perfect Major and Nostra Ideal, which will start from two, seven and 12.
Another Stewart couple which won their semis, Konan and Ride High will need to produce their best after drawing six and 12 in the three-year-old colts’ and geldings’ decider.
Stewart also has Poster Boy from two, Liftntorque from three, Major Times from eight in the feature.
Speak No Evil and Nostra Villa round out Stewart’s Vicbred attack in the Three-Year-Old Fillies’ Final, with the duo drawn four and five.
While the past fortnight has been astronomical for Stewart, things haven’t gone all her way, with four-year-old geldings Rocknroll Icon and Form Analyst scratched from their Final.
