ACE reinsman Chris Alford added to his sensational season by claiming another slice of history.
Eight nights ago Alford broke a 10-year-old driving record thanks to his upset victory behind Dependlebury at Geelong.
By leading throughout in 1:57.4 over 2100 metres, Dependlebury provided Alford with his 389th win for the term, eclipsing Daryl Douglas’ Australasian stance set in 2008.
At Ballarat this evening, Alford partnered With Gusto to upstage the favourite in 1:57.6 over 2200 metres.
In doing so the Graeme Dalton-trained veteran provided Alford with his 400th win for the season.
As such, Alford has become first driver in the southern hemisphere to reach such a mark.
Alford began the program on 398 wins before combining with The Storm Inside for an effortless triumph.
Prepared by record-breaking horsewoman Emma Stewart, The Storm Inside is unbeaten from 10 starts.
