DANI HILL
Another slice of history for Hill
March 5, 2018 Paul Courts

NO STRANGER to setting records, top reinswoman Dani Hill grabbed another slice of history yesterday.
After a decade without a home track, the Gawler Harness Racing Club conducted the first race meeting at its new venue, with Hill capturing the opening event.
In what has been a stellar weekend for the inspirational horsewoman, Hill ended the program with a treble.
Two nights earlier, Hill won six of the seven races at Port Pirie.
“It was such a privilege to win the first race at the new Gawler track,” Hill said. “It was also great to have won the first event while wearing the Gawler commemorative colours.
“It is a wonderful circuit and such a pleasure to drive there. I look forward to racing there more often.”
Hill’s historic win came with Santa Madre, which worked three-wide without cover before striding clear for a 10-and-a-half metre win from Samalise, with That Said two-and-a-half metres away third.
“After doing a bit of work, he won well and in 1:58.6, which is a track record over 2070 metres,” Hill joked.
“He had plenty in reserve on the line and could have gone quicker if required.”
Hill completed a double in the following event when combining with the Shane Loone-trained Juliuss, which scored from Aquarius Art and Alexandergreenwood.
Finishing a neck second in the third race, Hill rounded out her treble in the next event when The George proved too slick for Partywithmach and Little Growl.
Driving in sensational form, Hill has won an incredible 25 races since February 1- the beginning of the Teal Pants campaign.
During last season’s teal charity period Hill led the nation with 32 wins and is well clear again this term.
Between February 1 and March 11, which doubles as Australian Reinswomen Championship night in Tasmania, each reinswoman is sporting a pair of special teal racing pants to raise awareness and valuable funds for ANZGOG – Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group.
Money is donated by the various state governing bodies, certain racing clubs, and betting agencies for each win the women complete.
