NO SOONER had Soho Tribeca captured a Group Two than trainer Michael Stanley turned his attention to adding another to the pacer’s growing tally.
Successful on the country cup circuit last night, Soho Tribeca will be targeted at next week’s Melton Plate.
The popular feature is part of the local evening of festivities at Tabcorp Park Melton, which also includes the Melton Stampede and Scotch Notch Memorial.
“I will nominate him for the Plate next week and see how he pulls up over the next couple of days,” Stanley said. “He had a hard run under conditions which weren’t ideal.
“He seems bright this morning, but I’ll see how he is before acceptances.”
Driven by Greg Sugars, Soho Tribeca was caught three-wide early from the outside of the front row before being sent forward to settle outside the leader, Shadow Sax.
With the pair matching strides around the home turn, Soho Tribeca proved too strong along the straight as he completed a two-and-a-half metre win from Shadow Sax, with Messini four metres away third.
“It was good run and that’s what we’ve come to expect from him,” Stanley said. “He’s done all the work and was still too good on the night.”
Rating 1:56 over 2690 metres, the son of American Ideal slashed 2.7 seconds from Yankee Rockstar’s track record established in March 2016.
