TOUGH pacer Tiger Tara will recommence his Victoria Cup preparation at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday night.
Hoping to have the stayer at his peak for the October 13 event, trainer Kevin Pizzuto plans to give Tiger Tara “a few hit outs” before heading to Melton for the Grand Circuit opener.
Tiger Tara’s campaign was interrupted when he was one of several stable members in Pizzuto’s float which was involved in a serious accident on August 28.
Pizzuto received bumps and bruises, while his staff member, Karen Crouch, suffered broken ribs.
Thankfully the horses escaped with minor cuts and bruises, however, it was enough to see Tiger Tara miss valuable work.
“We are all getting there slowly but getting there, which is the main thing,” Pizzuto said. “It’s been a tough few weeks, especially waiting on the truck and float to be replaced.
“Tiger got knocked around a little, but he’s fine and ready to get back into it.
“Now I’ve just got to get him fit and ready for the Victoria Cup.”
To Pizzuto’s dismay Tiger Tara has drawn the outside of the front row on the weekend under the preferential draw conditions.
Pizzuto also has Bevans Cullen in barrier three and Lola Jones in gate nine.
“He’s got to have another gut buster from 10,” Pizzuto said. “The free-for-alls are constantly being run under preferential draws which means he is copping the worst draw each week.
“Free-for-all at the very least should be random draws.”
