Boom youngster to continue winning streak
BOOM youngster Loucasso is expected to have no trouble continuing his winning streak despite a wide draw at Club Menangle on Saturday night.
Successful during his last three starts for Victorian trainer Emma Stewart last season – with his victories including The Protostar and Breeders’ Crown Final – Loucasso has scored at his three runs for New South Wales horseman Seaton Grima.
The three-year-old’s overall record sits on 10 wins and a second from 12 starts for earnings of $430,588.
Breaking 1:50 in each of his wins for Grima, Loucasso’s most recent triumph was in a Breeders’ Challenge heat on September 29, with the win earning the son of Sweet Lou a berth in the futurity’s semi-finals.
“I couldn’t have him feeling any better,” Grima said. “He won a trial in 1:49.3 at Menangle last week and I took him back yesterday for a hit out and he went terrific.
“I expect another big run from him and have no doubt he will be better again for the FInal.”
To be driven by Grima, Loucasso is a $1.04 TAB Fixed Odds favourite from barrier eight, with Nocturnal considered the main threat at $11 from gate five.
Trained by prominent horseman Blake Fitzpatrick, Nocturnal won a series heat on October 2 before finishing second in an open-age event last weekend.
