TOUGH pacer Tiger Tara will have his final hit out at Tabcorp Park Menangle before embarking on an extended tour.

With several majors in mind for the stallion trainer Kevin Pizzuto will use this Saturday night’s Les Chant Cup as Tiger Tara’s “last tune up”.

Due to head south of the Murray River next week, Tiger Tara is set to be entered in the Smoken Up Sprint in Melton on October 6 before tackling the Victoria Cup at the same venue the following week.

Should all according to plan Tiger Tara will then be taken across the Tasman for the New Zealand Cup and Free-For-all before returning to Australia.

The son of Bettors Delight will once again head to Victoria for the Inter Dominion.

Tiger Tara followed a similar schedule last season, finishing third in the Victoria and New Zealand Cups and the Perth-based Inter Dominion Final.

He was also runner-up in the Group One Free-For-All.

“I wasn’t going to take him to Melton until the Cup, but with a $50,000 on the week before under random draw conditions it is a better option,” Pizzuto said.

“The other option is a free-for-all for $30,000 here which is a preferential draw and will have him coming from 10 again.

“Except for the two Miracle Mile carnival races, he’s drawn the outside of the front at Menangle in every race since July 2017 because of the preferential draws…and that’s in free-for-alls which should be random draws.

“He’s in for another gut buster on the weekend because he is the widest runner again.

“I know he’s shown he can do it tough, but you can’t keep going to the well like he is.

“Last weekend he ran his last quarter in 26.09 seconds and couldn’t get into it.

“That said, he went super and I’m confident he is getting back to his best.”
