Career-defining moment awaits for young gun

ON TARGET to register the best season of his short but impressive career, Cameron Hart hopes to add a defining moment to his year.

Amassing 175 wins last season, Hart is well-positioned to surpass the tally having notched 141 victories with four months remaining this term.

While another personal best would be a highlight for Hart, his maiden journey to South Australia in a fortnight has the potential to be his biggest milestone.

Hart will make the interstate journey as one of two New South Wales representatives in the Australian Drivers’ Championship.

The young gun will be joined by Grace Panella as they compete against a pair of drivers from each state at Globe Derby on September 17, with the opposition including defending champion – West Australian superstar Gary Hall junior.

The line-up also includes former champions, Queensland’s Pete McMullen and local hero, Wayne Hill.

Each competitor is scheduled to contest eight races, with the winner to be decided on points accumulated throughout the night.

Along with bragging rights as Australian champion, the winner will be given strong consideration when determining who will represent Australia in next year’s World Driving Championship in Italy.

“I haven’t driven at Globe Derby before so I am really looking forward to it,” Hart said. “To be representing my state over there against such amazing drivers is a tremendous honour and I hope I can do my colours proud.

“Gary is a driver I really admire as he has achieved pretty much everything there is to achieve in the sport, and I’m looking forward to driving against him.

“You need luck to draw the right horses in such a series, but regardless of the draws, I’ll be giving it my all.”
