Champ finally has a chance to defend title

IT’S taken three years, but Gary Hall junior will finally get the chance to defend his Australian Drivers’ Championship title.

The ace West Australian made the long journey to Tasmania in 2019, where he outscored a host of the nation’s best to secure the crown.

Due to the Covd-19 pandemic’s stranglehold on the world since early 2020, the series was cancelled in 2020 and 2021.

Back on the agenda, the ADC is scheduled to be conducted in South Australia next month.

To be more precise, the title will be up for grabs at Globe Derby on September 17.

Keen to test himself against the star-studded line up, Hall was quick to point out his reign as champion has been the longest in history!

“I’ve held the title for three years, which is longer than anyone else,” Hall joked. “So I don’t plan on giving it up.

“I look forward to getting over to Adelaide for the series.

“These events have their serious side, but they are good fun and it’ll be a great time.”

With each competitor to contest eight races, the winner will be decided on points accumulated throughout the night.

Along with bragging rights as Australian champion, the winner will be given strong consideration when determining who will represent Australia in next year’s World Driving Championship in Italy.

“Pulling the right rein on the night is important, but a large portion comes come down to luck particularly in regards to getting the right horses to drive,” Hall said.

“Hopefully some of that luck comes my way and I’ll head back to WA with the title once again.”
