A FAVOURABLE draw has boosted Ultimaction’s chance of ending her cameo season on a high.

Making a winning debut in Melton earlier this month, Ultimaction was runner-up at her subsequent start in a heat of the Home Grown Classic.

The two-year-old’s performance earned her a berth in Saturday night’s Alabar-sponsored Final in Melton, which will be her last assignment for the year.

To connections’ delight, the Conor Crook-trained filly is set to begin from barrier two.

Pleased with the draw, Ultimaction’s driver – Crook’s partner, Jordan Chibnall – is confident the daughter of Ultimate Machete can turn the tables on her heat conqueror, Our Saydie Kay.

Ultimaction led from gate three before being eased to take a trail behind Our Saydie Kay, which scored by a metre.

Prepared by Andy Gath, Our Saydie Kay will come from barrier three in the $40,000 feature.

“It’s a good draw for her,” Chibnall said. “She is naturally quick from the gate, so won’t have to be pushed out to go forward.

“She took a lot of benefit out of the heat and will be better again in the Final.

“We expect her to run a big race.”

In other exciting news for Chibnall, she has been selected among the 10 drivers to compete in the Young Guns Series on New Year’s Eve.

The drivers will compete in eight penalty-free races, with a points scale to decide the winner.

Thanks to Garrards, the Young Guns Series champion will receive a Cobra sulky with FMT wheels in the colours of their choice.

“I’m super excited to be part of the series,” Chibnall said.
