Chance to remain unbeaten

FRESH from her successful debut last weekend, Skew Whiff is favoured to remain unbeaten when she returns to Globe Derby tonight.

Although she led throughout in a snail-like 2:17.5 over 1800 metres, Skew Whiff was never seriously challenged on her way to a five-and-a-half metre win from Glamourise.

A stablemate of the winner, Centillionaire, was 10-and-a-half metres away third, with the only other runner in the field, Hayoak, two metres behind.

That quartet will be joined in the Parker Classic by debutante Nurunderi.

Drawn well in barrier three, Skew Whiff is a $1.55 TAB Fixed Odds favourite for respected trainer Jill Neilson.

Glamourise is once again considered the biggest threat at $3.90 from gate six.

“I was very happy with her run first-up,” Neilson said. “She did everything right, which is the main thing with trotters, especially the young ones.

“Her work this week has been solid, as has Centillionaire, so I expect a good run from both of them.”

With next month’s Southern Cross Series the main target, Neilson will prime the two-year-olds for the futurity.

“I’m working them towards the Southern Cross and hopefully they can have a bit of luck in that series,” Neilson said. “I’ll have to look at the program to find some suitable races between now and then.”
