BE WARNED – bypassing tomorrow night’s Smoken Up Sprint at Melton has nothing to do with Tiger Tara’s fitness or form.
That’s the message from trainer Kevin Pizzuto when discussing his decision to postponed Tiger Tara’s trip south of the Murray River by a week.
Recently stating he would prefer to have the tough pacer in the Victorian feature under random barrier conditions as oppose to a local preferential draw race, Pizzuto has been forced to alter his plans.
As such, Tiger Tara will compete at Tabcorp Park Menangle tomorrow night before heading interstate for the Victoria Cup on October 13.
“I was planning to take him to Melton this week, but I’m still struggling a little after the accident so I’ve had to race him here instead,” Pizzuto said.
“He’ll definitely be in Victoria next week for the Cup.
“He’s feeling terrific and will be hard to beat despite drawing the outside of the front row again.
“A random draw would be nice, as except for the Miracle Mile Carnival, he’s had barrier 10 up here since July last year, so with a bit of luck he can get a descent draw in the Cup.”
In other news from the stable, Pizzuto is looking for a budding star to join his team.
“I’m on the lookout for a concession driver to come and work at the stable,” Pizzuto said. “I need someone who can do fast work and race drives will be available for them, so a concession driver would be ideal.
“The team is about to expand with a few pretty handy horses coming, so the chance will be there to get some drives along the way.”
