Change of plans with talented filly

A HAT-TRICK of wins has forced a change in plans with talented filly Threebushelsofoats.

Originally looking to work the three-year-old through the lower grades, trainer Aaron Goadsby has decided to aim higher.

As such, Threebushelsofoats will compete in Saturday night’s Raith Memorial at Club Menangle as test ahead of next month’s New South Wales Oaks.

Should the daughter of Art Major perform admirably in the feature she will continue her trek towards the Oaks heats at the world class venue on February 18.

“She’s a nice honest filly, but no star,” Goadsby said. “A month ago I hadn’t given the Oaks a thought, but given the way she’s raced to win her last three starts I figured I may as well have a look.

“The Raith Memorial is a throw at the stamps to see where she is at and whether it is worthy of pushing on for the Oaks heats.

“She has a bit of gate speed, great manners, good attitude and tries her backside off which is her best attribute.”

With regular reinsman Robbie Morris on a stewards-enforced holiday, Threebushelsofoats will be driven by Luke McCarthy.

The widest drawn in the field of nine, Threebushelsofoats is on the second line of betting at $4.20 with TAB Fixed Odds.

Trained by Amanda Turnbull, Tin Tin Jo is the $1.40 favourite from barrier four.

“It is a horror draw which will make it tough,” Goadbsy said. “Tin Tin Jo is definitely the one to beat given her form and draw.

“Robbie is suspended so I found an able replacement who would have been sitting in grandstand otherwise!”
