A local NSW bred 5YO, the ultra-consistent Charlaval, purchased as a yearling by his owner Daniel Cordina, has progressed in the last season to be a talented and underrated pacer.

He has progressed from winning in 1:57.6 at 2, to 1:51.9 at 3, to a career best 1:51.3 in winning a Free-For-all at Tabcorp Park Menangle early last month.

A winner of the Group Two $50,000 Shirley Turnbull Memorial at Bathurst back on Boxing Day over Bling It On, Charaval won the Breeders Challenge Final (1:51.9) and Simpson Memorial (1:52.9) over the mile at this track last season as a three-year-old.

Charaval is drawn wide in the Miracle Mile but connections have indicated that he will be driven for luck and will try to find the rails early. With a cold sit, connections hope he will charge home like his eye-catching third in the Allied Express Sprint last Saturday night.
