Classy pacer sent for a spell

CLASSY pacer Sicario has been sent for a spell in preparation for several end-of-the-year majors.

Completing consecutive wins in Kilmore last night, Sicario will spend a month in a paddock according to trainer Brent Lilley.

Lilley believes it is the ideal time to freshen the son of Somebeachsomewhere before he is primed for main events such as the Inter Dominion.

To be staged throughout New South Wales, the Inter Dominion is scheduled to begin with heats at Club Menangle on November 28.

“There is not a lot around for him at the moment so it is a good time for him to have a break,” Lilley said. “I will give him four weeks off which will do him good.

“He’s got the $100,000 five-year-old race in Wagga later in the year, then we’ll look at the Inter Dominion.”

Driven by Chris Alford, Sicario led throughout from barrier six to account for Professor Tom and Pick Up Line in 1:58.5 over 2180 metres.

“He did it easily and is a good way for him to head for a spell,” Lilley said.

Sicario’s success was the closing leg of a quartet for Lilley, who prepared Kyvalley Clichy, Robbie Royale and Here Comes Kyvalley to score earlier on the card.

Having his second start, Here Comes Kyvalley rated a modest 2:09.8 over 2150 metres as Whos The Man and Watch And Act filled the placings.

“He went along alright,” Lilley said. “He’s not the best of my two-year-old trotters but he behaved well enough and that’s what made the difference between him and my other two runners in the race.”
