Continuing rich vein of form

HANDY pacer Donnie Mac continued his rich vein of form with an eye-catching win at Club Menangle yesterday.

Trained by Kristie O’Sullivan, Donnie Mac has won three of his last six starts, including a pair of victories at the world class venue.

The son of Tintin In America also has a third and a fourth in the mix.

Enjoying a hot streak with her boutique team, O’Sullivan’s last 10 trips to the races have netted four wins and a pair of thirds!

“Things have been going along quite nicely.” O’Sullivan said. “I’ve got three horses in work and they have all won during the last month.

“I’m pretty happy with them at the moment, especially Donnie after yesterday.”

Driven by Dean Cernovskis, Donnie Mac began quickly to lead from barrier five before being eased to take a trail behind The Greek General.

Angled away from the pegs at the top of the home straight, the gelding sprinted to a five-and-a-half metre win from Michael Caine.

Mini Mine Yet was a metre-and-a-half away third in 1:54.7 over a mile.

“I expected a good run from him and he didn’t let me down,” O’Sullivan said. “They ran the first quarter in 26.9 seconds and he still finished strongly.

“While he is going well I might push the envelope and try him in a Saturday night race.”
