ANOTHER strong performance at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday night will pave way for a country cups campaign with Raptors Flight.

A sensation since cross the Tasman, Raptors Flight is unbeaten from six starts for Victorian trainer David Aiken, who believes the son of Bettors Delight will be well suited to the provincial circuit.

As such, Aiken is considering tackling next week’s Kilmore Cup with the gelding.

“The Kilmore Cup would be a step up on what he has been racing here, but he has been in races such as the Auckland Cup in New Zealand,” Aiken said.

“The conditions wouldn’t be a problem for him it will just be a matter of how hot the field is.

“I’ll certainly be looking at other country cups with him throughout the season and see how he goes.

“He came here very well graded with a 52 ranking and has been able to get up in class quite quickly.”

To be driven by Kima Frenning, Raptors Flight has drawn wide in barrier seven.

Despite the early obstacle the six-year-old is a short-priced favourite.

“He is up in grade slightly again but I can’t see it being a concern,” Aiken said. “Even from the draw he should have it covered.

“He’s still got to get out there and get the job done, but it is a winnable race for him.”
