LEIGH SUTTON has a handful of reasons to appreciate the nice, quiet drive home from Maitland this evening.
Along with time to savour his four wins on the card, Sutton’s trip is the calm before the storm.
Already the proud father of a daughter, Milla, Sutton and his wife, Tiarn, welcomed a son into the world last week.
After an extended stint in the hospital, Tye and Mum will be back in the family house tomorrow.
“It’s roughly a six-hour round trip when I head to Maitland, but getting a winner always makes it worth it,” Sutton said. “A day like today certainly shortens the pain of the long trip.
“Having a very good day at the office right before Tiarn and Tye come home is a great bonus.
“I’ll certainly enjoy it while relaxing at home and getting a good night sleep before the interrupted baby nights begin.”
Starting the ball rolling with Que Sera in the opening event, Sutton was then victorious with Im Sugar Coated, Yourblueyescrying and Catch The Breeze.
The four are prepared by Clayton Harmey.
“Clayton had them all turned out in perfect condition and each won quite well,” Sutton said.
While Sutton’s moment in the spotlight was welcomed, he revealed his wins are just a supporting act to Milla’s success during the weekend.
Partnering her star pony, Fire Blaze, the seven-year-old reins girl made her way into the winners’ circle during the Camden Show.
“Milla loves driving her pony and will be telling me how to drive before too long,” Sutton joked.
