IN-FORM raider Our Jericho faces a daunting task in Mildura tonight.
Fresh from his record-breaking Victor Harbor Cup triumph earlier this month, Our Jericho will tackle a heat of the famed Mildura Cup for premier South Australian horseman, Les Harding.
To Harding’s dismay, Our Jericho, which will be driven by Dani Hill, has drawn the middle of the back row in what appears to be the strongest qualifier.
“The draw hasn’t helped his cause,” Harding said. “Unfortunately, the draw is done on metropolitan class, so if he makes the Final, he is going to be out there in that as well.
“It is the stronger of the two heats, but he’ll be having a go.
“If he can get the right run, he will be hard to hold out.”
Citing Messini as the one to beat, Harding believes Murranji Track has drawn to “give cheek”.
Winner of the Swan Hill, Bendigo and Terang Cups this season, Messini will begin from the outside of the second line.
Boasting six wins and a third from his last seven starts at Mildura, Murranji Track will come from barrier two.
“Messini is obviously the one to beat,” Harding said. “Murranji Track comes right into it from the draw and is bound to give cheek if he finds the front.”
