“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.” Benjamin Franklin, 1789.
WITH all due respect to Benno, there is a certainty set to occur in Ballarat tomorrow night.
As part of a strong program the highly-successful venue will conduct the Colin and Heather Holloway Classic – named after a pair of club stalwarts.
The certainty associated with the race is premier trainer Emma Stewart will win the feature.
Not only does the local horsewoman prepare the $1.70 favourite, each of the six runners in the field hail from her stable.
Amazingly, the in-house battle has done nothing to attract from the quality of the assembly, which shapes as a mini Derby!
Despite being first-up since his disappointing New South Wales Derby performance on March 2, Centenario heads betting markets from barrier two.
“He had a good freshen-up after the Derby and has been working terrifically,” Stewart said.
“The draw should see him settle in a good spot.”
Hurricane Harley is considered the biggest threat at $2.10 from barrier four.
The son of Bettors Delight returned from a break for an effortless 36-and-a-half metre win in Bendigo three weeks ago.
“That run has done him the world of good,” Stewart said. “His work has stepped up since and he’s also ready to put in a good run.
“They’ve all been working well and can beat each other if given the better run.”
