A FAVOURABLE draw has boosted confidence ahead of tomorrow night’s APG Final.

Part of another stellar Albion Park program, the feature is for Australian Pacing Gold graduates from the Brisbane Sale, with a strong field of two-year-olds chasing the lion’s share of the $156,000 on offer

Successful in her heat at the same venue last week, Synchronizer has been provided every opportunity to repeat the dose for trainer Brad Hewitt.

One of three fillies competing against the ‘boys’, Synchronizer will begin from the pole.

“It’ll be no easy task for her as it is always hard to take on the colts, but going off the heats, she went as well as anything in the field,” Hewitt said.

“The draw certainly helps as she’s got the gate speed and looks like she should be the leader early on, which gives me options from there.

“Her work has been great this week, and going into races like this, you want to take luck out of the equation, which the draw and her work have done to a certain degree.”

Citing Balboa Rock as the one to beat, Hewitt believes the likely early speed could be a key factor in the colt’s chances.

Prepared by record-breaking Victorian horsewoman Emma Stewart, Balboa Rock has drawn the inside of the second row.

The son of Rock N Roll Heaven was also triumphant in his heat.

“Balboa Rock is clearly the one to beat,” Hewitt said. “He’s only had two starts, but gives the impression he is more a tough going type, so whether he has the speed at the start to hold our back will be interesting.

“If he can’t and another slots in behind us, all of a sudden he is two-back on the pegs which changes things.”

TAB Fixed Odds agree with Hewitt’s assessment, with Synchronizer a $2 favourite, just ahead of Balboa Rock at $2.05.
