Exciting filly shines bright to maintain perfect record

SHINING bright in Bendigo last night, Lux Aeterna has earned a brief freshen-up ahead of her next feature target.

Proving too good in a Nutrien Sales Final, Lux Aeterna will be readied for the New South Wales Breeders’ Challenge, which culminates in a $150,000 decider at Club Menangle on October 28.

The undefeated daughter of Captaintreacherous will then return to Victoria for the Breeders’ Crown the following month.

“She’s spending today relaxing in a paddock before we head home tomorrow, where she will have a short break,” trainer Rickie Alchin said. “Nothing too long, just a freshen-up ahead of the Challenge heats in about six weeks.

“She is also eligible for the Crown, so the plan is to be back in Victoria for that.”

Driven by Alchin during her latest victory, Lux Aeterna began quickly to find the lead from barrier three as Cant Hear You worked hard on her outside.

Striding clear of the pack along the back straight, the filly cruised to a soft 26-metre win from Ignite The Fire.

Thesunandthemoon was 16-metres away third.

Taking her record to a perfect five, Lux Aeterna rated 1:56 over 2150 metres.

“I felt she had the class over her rivals and it was her race to lose, but she still had to get out there and get the job done,” Alchin said.

“She’s only a two-year-old and it was her first trip away from home, so anything can happen, but she handled it like a seasoned veteran.”
