A FAIRYTALE ending to Foiled Again’s illustrious career is unlikely following the barrier draw for his final start.
Forced into mandatory retirement as of January 1, Foiled Again will compete at The Meadows on New Year’s Eve.
To connections’ dismay, the 14-year-old will begin from barrier eight – the outside of the front row.
“It’s basically a semi-open pace,” trainer Ron Burke said. “I’ll train him pretty tight, but he’ll have to be pretty aggressive to win from there.
“He’s a great horse who tends to rise to the occasion, so we’ll ask him to do it one more time.”
To be driven by Yannick Gringas, Foiled Again is on the second line of betting at 9/2, with Shooter’s Dream the 5/2 favourite from barrier five.
Winner of his last three starts, the son of Dragon Again boasts an overall record of 109 wins from 330 starts for record earnings of $7,675,397 and a best time of 1:48.
