HANDY mare Innocent Crocker is poised to follow her sibling by being sent north.

Engaged in a Country Series Final at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday night, Innocent Crocker will make her farewell appearance for trainer Bruce Harpley before moving on.

Unlike her half-brother Major Crocker which went far north of the equator, Innocent Crocker will find herself in Queensland according to Harpley.

“This will be her last run here before heading up to Queensland,” Harpley said. “She is in that grade now where the racing will suit her better there.

“The band options for mares should give her more options.”

As for her pending assignment, Innocent Crocker heads into the decider via a heat victory in Temora a fortnight ago.

Along with her winning form, the six-year-old has drawn to receive a perfect trail from the pole.

Despite those positive factors Innocent Crocker is among the outsiders at $34, with Callmequeenbee a $1.65 favourite from barrier four.

“She’s improved all the way along and goes into the Final in pretty good shape,” Harpley said. “She doesn’t possess a heap of gate speed but should settle well along the pegs.

“I haven’t got too many high expectations, even from the draw, but she is a smokey with the right run.”

Although Innocent Crocker is exiting the stable, Harpley has reasonable hopes for her two-year-old half-brother by Somebeachsomewhere.

“I just gave him a quiet trial and he went along quite nicely,” Harpley said. “He has got a bit of speed about him and should win his races.

“I’ll just keep bringing him along steadily and find the right race when he is ready to debut.”
