Feeling seedy, but well worth it!

FEELING seedy and a tad sorry for himself is well with it according to Brendan Barnes.

Barnes is ‘under the weather’ this morning after celebrating his maiden Group One victory which he recorded at Albion Park last night.

Despite his less than stellar state, Barnes remains “on top of the world”.

“It was a quiet, but big night,” Barnes said. “I only spent the night at home, but had a beer or 10.

“I’m feeling it a little this morning, had a sleep in and am about to go at get some breakfast.

“I’m a bit seedy but am on top of the world after getting my first Group One.”

Barnes’ moment in the spotlight came via Jeradas Delight, which caused a massive upset in the Golden Girl.

Beginning from the outside of the second row, Jeradas Delight was settled towards the tail of the field as Spellbound led from the pole.

Forced five-wide leaving the back straight, the daughter of Bettors Delight sustained a stunning sprint to reach the lead in the last stride to score by a half-head from Spellbound.

Amazing Dream was a half-head away third.

Paying $254 on the Tote, Jeradas Delight rated 1:52.5 to also provide trainer Jack Butler with his initial Group One triumph.

“She has been racing really well and for the last month we’d been saying she could win a big one with the right run,” Barnes said.

“To her credit she didn’t really get the right run and still managed to win.

“After I had to go so wide down the back I thought her run would come to an end up the straight, but she just kept finding.”
