FRESH from last weekend’s feature demolition, quality filly Treasure is expected to add another to her growing collection at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday night.
Successful in the Australian Pacing Gold Championship around the same track, Treasure is primed to contest the time-honoured Tatlow Stakes.
Also triumphant in a Southern Cross Final in Port Pirie on May 18, Treasure is a short priced favourite to capture her third Group Two for trainer Emma Stewart.
One of four Stewart-trained runners in the 2240-metre event, the daughter of Art Major is listed at $1.80 with TAB Fixed Odds despite her outside of the front row draw.
“I’m very happy with the way she pulled up from last week, which is why she is going around again,” Stewart said.
“The draw isn’t the best, but we also knew she would be out there given the preferential draw on stakes.
“With only seven in the field she won’t be far away from the tempo no matter where she settles.”
Stewart will also be represented by Jemstone, which is the second favourite at $3.80 from barrier six, while Amelia Rose is paying $5.50 from gate five, with Jo Dina a $61 outsider from four.
“Each of them are well and capable of winning,” Stewart said. “It will just come down to how the race is run.
“Treasure is the main chance, but she’s still got to go out and get the job down.”
Following her pending assignment Treasure will be kept fresh ahead of the Australasian Breeders’ Crown, which starts with heats on August 6.
Should all go according to plan Treasure will progress to the $300,000 Final in Melton on August 24.
