EXCEPTIONALLY-BRED youngster Pelosi is on target to go one better than her dam when she returns to Albion Park in a fortnight.

Registering a sensational victory in yesterday’s Australian Pacing Gold heat at the same venue, Pelosi is among the main chances in the $350,550 Final.

By American Ideal, the two-year-old is from For Dear Life, which finished second behind Keppel Bay in the 2008 APG Final at Harold Park.

Keppel Bay was trained by Emma Stewart who completed a clean sweep of the four APG qualifiers at Tabcorp Park Melton yesterday.

For Dear Life ventured to Albion Park in 2009 to secure the Three-Year-Old APG Final for trainer Wayne Honan.

Honan bred and owns Pelosi which is prepared by his partner Ana Woodmansey.

“Pelosi’s dam won an APG Final at Albion Park so hopefully it’s a good track for the family,” Woodmansey said.

“We hope Pelosi can go on with the job in a couple of weeks.”

Driven by John Cremin, Pelosi was settled in the one-one early from barrier five before being sent forward to take the lead from Toanui Spirit during the middle stages.

Striding clear of the field around the home turn, the filly was untouched to score by 23-and-and-a-half metres from Toanui Spirit, with Vouchers a neck away third.

Rating a brilliant 1:53.3 over 1660 metres, Pelosi stretched her record to three wins from four starts.

“She was pretty good,” Woodmansey said. “She’s always had ability and impressed us with her run. It was exciting.

“She has certainly improved her manners over last few months, which is good.

“I won’t give her another start before the Final and will just keep her going along in training.”
