FORMER Australian pacer Mach Doro proved too slick at Plainridge Park yesterday.
Pushed forward to find the lead with a first quarter in 26.4 seconds, Mach Doro was never seriously challenged on his way to an easy win with sectionals of 55.1 and 1:22.4.
With Ron Cushing holding the reins, the Australian Pacing Gold purchase stopped the clock in 1:50.2.
Mach Doro’s time shaved a tenth-of-a-second from his best mark set around Tabcorp Park Menangle in April 2018.
Trained by Heidi Gibbs, the gelding notched his fifth win of the season for local earnings of $64,000.
The son of Mach Three left the southern hemisphere with a record of 20 wins and 22 placings from 76 starts and a bankroll of $336,810.
Part-owned by Cushing, along with Kevin Sywyk and Frank Rinaldi, Mach Three is expected to continue to contest suitable races at his ‘home track’.
