HE MAY have to retreat early from the draw, but Forte Courage can reverse it to victory at Globe Derby on Saturday night.
A last start winner at the venue, Forte Courage is set to begin from barrier six which has caused trainer Ryan Hryhorec’s morale to droop.
“The draw has made it pretty hard for him,” Hryhorec said. “He’s racing and working well enough but it’s hard to be confident from there.
“I do like him, but it’s about time he stands up and gets going.”
Should the son of Courage Under Fire enjoy luck during the 1800-metre clash Hryhorec is confident Forte Courage can finish ‘with a bang and a boom’.
“If he can get the right run he will be in the finish,” Hryhorec said. “It will come down to what kind of luck he gets on the night.”
Poised to take a holiday on Friday, Hryhorec won’t be trackside to watch Forte Courage, which is one of five solid chances the premier horseman has engaged at the meeting.
Hryhorec will also be represented by Lady Danger, Goodboy Cowboy, Torque To the Starz and Aldebaran Broozer.
“The draws have made it tough on all of them except Aldebaran Broozer, which will begin from two in the discretionary handicap,” Hryhorec said. “I’m off to New Zealand on Friday morning but I’ll be trying to watch them from somewhere.
“With a bit of luck I’ll get a few winners to help cover expenses!”
