ALTHOUGH he is firing from all chambers tough draws have had Tom Me Gun off target in recent weeks.

Beginning from the outside of the second row in two of his last three outings, Tom Me Gun has produced impressive efforts for a fifth and a third.

The gelding’s start in between saw him win an invitational drivers’ event from barrier two!

To trainer Narissa McMullen’s dismay, Tom Me Gun is again set to begin from gate 12 – outside of the back line – at Albion Park on Saturday night.

“The draws haven’t been the kindest to him lately,” McMullen said. “He came from 12 last week and two starts before that and is there again this week.

“Last week he did all the work and wasn’t far away when third so it was a pleasing run.

“He is racing well and just needs a bit of luck on the night to win.”

With American interest shown in the son of Courage Under Fire McMullen is unsure how long Tom Me Gun will remain in her stable.

Until a sale occurs the six-year-old will continue to be aimed at suitable targets.

“For now he will just keep racing through the grades on a Saturday night as I think he can make it to free-for-all company and be competitive,” McMullen said.

“I’ve had a few inquiries from America, so if one of those leads to a deal, he will finish his racing over there.”
