Hoping for a case of third time lucky

CONNECTIONS of top pacer My Ultimate Ronnie are hoping for a case of third time lucky when he returns to Club Menangle on Sunday.

Winner of his last two starts, My Ultimate Ronnie is engaged in a New South Wales Breeders’ Challenge Final for trainer Jarrod Alchin.

Third in the two-year-old edition, the son of Bettors Delight was then runner-up behind Leap To Fame last season.

“He improved one position from two to three, so hopefully that trend continues on the weekend and he comes away with the win,” Alchin said. “He’s in magnificent condition…couldn’t be any better, now we just have to see how it works out on the day.”

To be driven by Cameron Hart, My Ultimate Ronnie has drawn barrier seven, but slots into six with the removal of the emergency.

“He’ll be going forward looking for the lead from there,” Alchin said. “That probably makes Allstarzzz Frankie one of his biggest dangers as he’ll have the perfect sit from the pole.

“Im In Trouble went huge in the semi and he’ll be right in it again even from barrier nine.”

Alchin will also be represented by Saint Crusader, which has drawn the widest of the 10-horse field due to his Outside of the Draw status.

“He’s racing very consistently, but barrier 10 makes it harder,” Alchin said. “That said, if he behaves himself at the start and gets the right run, he might surprise a few.”
