ANTON GOLINO
Hoping history can repeat itself
March 8, 2018 Paul Courts

ALTHOUGH his numbers are down compared to last year, Anton Golino is hoping for a similar result in Saturday night’s Need For Speed Princess Final.
With six runners in last season’s edition, Golino prepared the first four across the line, including Une Belle Allure, which captured the Group One.
This time around Golino has two representatives in the Tabcorp Park Melton-based feature, with a quinella a distinct possibility.
Winner of her two starts this season, Amour De Frere is the horseman’s leading prospect from barrier six.
“She’s come back really well…I’m very happy with her,” Golino said. “She is a pretty smart type, which is much better this time in and doing everything right.
“She was never really a genuine two-year-old and probably shouldn’t have raced, but hindsight is a great thing.
“This time around she has matured a little and hasn’t stopped improving.”
Third upon debut in her heat, Pretty Majestic will begin from the outside of the front row, with Golino confident the daughter of Majestic Son can make her presence felt.
“She did a good job at her first start and has trained on well since,” Golino said. “She’s still learning what it’s all about, but she’s got a bit of ability.”
Citing Moonlight Dream as the one to beat, Golino also rates Aleppo Jewel as a major threat.
Boasting three wins from her last five starts, Moonlight Dream has drawn barrier two, with Aleppo Jewel to come from the outside of the second row.
“Moonlight Dream will be very hard to beat, especially with a favourable draw,” Golino said. “Aleppo Jewel goes well when she is on her best behaviour and is bound to be fitter after two runs back.”
