EVERGREEN trotter Trebol extended his remarkable winning streak when triumphant in the Premi Al Caufar at Hipodrom Municipal de Mao during the weekend.

The Spanish squaregaiter scored from Caviar d’Occagnes and Cubic Go to complete his 52nd consecutive victory.

To put the feat into perspective, the Australasian harness racing winning streak belongs to San Simeon, which won 29 successive races between November 11, 1978 and March 7, 1981.

Trebol’s winning streak began on September 30, 2017, with the 12-year-old breaking the world record with his 43rd straight win last April.

Swedish trotter Järvsöfaks held the previous mark.

Owned by Caudro Sa Farola, the son of Hot Blues is also edging closer to the world record streak for a horse of any code.

Puerto Rican thoroughbred Camarero won 56 races in a row between April 1953 and August 1955.

During the 1880s Hungarian galloper Kincsem won all her 54 races – which remains a world record for an unbeaten racehorse of any code.

As for Trebol, which had a short-lived retirement in early 2017, his overall tally sits at 84 wins from 146 starts for earnings of 687,216€.
