TASRACING stewards have concluded an inquiry into the betting activities of Zeke Slater whilst disqualified.
On August 9, 2018, Slater reserved his plea to, and was then found guilty of, charges pursuant to AHRR 259(j) and written submissions were then made in relation to penalty.
Under the provisions of AHRR 259A Slater’s disqualification of 18 months was recommenced from August 4, 2017 and will expire at midnight on February 3, 2019.
In determining penalty, stewards were mindful of Slater’s offence history, which included previous breaches of disqualification, the volume and value of bets placed by Slater, his personal circumstances and that breaches of disqualification are serious matters requiring penalties which serve to act as a specific and general deterrent.
