Is this a record waiting to happen?

THE Australian record price for a trotting yearling sold at auction of $55,000 is expected to be surpassed at the Australasian Premier Trotting Sale to be held at Tabcorp Park Melton on Sunday, March 11.
Aldebaran Stephan, a brother to the Australasian mile record holder Maori Time (Tr 1:51.5), the winner of three Group Ones and $419,801 in stakes, will go under the hammer as Lot 55.
The lynchpin of the 12-strong Aldebaran Park consignment of Duncan McPherson, the grand looking colt is from 2016/17 Victorian Broodmare of the Year Sundonna, a member of the famous Maori Miss tribe.
Sundonna also figures as the dam of the talented Maori Law Tr 1:58.8 ($86,669), the winner of 12 of his 15 starts, and the Group One placed Happy Maori Tr 1:59.6 ($89,365), and the grand-dam of the dual Group One placegetter Meadow Valley Road (Tr 1:56.3).
The colt’s pedigree abounds in ‘black type’ with close relatives including Inter Dominion champion Sumthingaboutmaori, former trotting icon Noopy Kiosk, Tennotrump, Maori Princess and Skye Rocket, to name only a few.
