IN-FORM trotter Majestic Ess Jay will be looking to maintain his perfect Tasmanian record in Hobart tonight.
Unbeaten from two starts on the Apple Isle, Majestic Ess Jay will tackle the Tasmania Trotters’ Cup for trainer Eric Jacobson.
Majestic Ess Jay had been absent from the winners’ circle since December 2016 before crossing Bass Strait.
Despite being moved back to a 20-metre handicap, the son of Majestic Son is a $2 favourite with TAB Fixed Odds.
“He won the first heat from the front line and I was told he would remain on that mark for the Final, which is what would normally be the case,” Jacobson said.
“Then for the second heat the conditions were changed to discretionary and he’s off 20 metres!
“He was able to overcome it nonetheless so he should be able to do it again in the Final.”
Citing All The Way Mae as the biggest threat, Jacobson also expects Bootleg Bert to play a role in the finish.
Runner-up at her last four starts, All The Way Mae is a $7 chance from the 20-metre line.
Unplaced during his local debut a fortnight ago, Bootleg Bert is predicted to improve from the pole.
“All The Way Mae has been racing well and is looking to break through,” Jacobson said.
“Apparently they’ve got wraps on Bootleg Bert so I expect him to go better this time around.
“Majestic Ess Jay is working really well and will be very hard to beat, I hope he can keep his unbeaten record here going.”
