NEXT month’s Vicbred Super Series is the primary target with exciting pacer Jilliby Kung Fu.

Returning from a spell with a strong win at Shepparton last night, Jilliby Kung Fu will back up in a heat of the Empire Stallions-sponsored futurity at Ballarat on Friday night.

Should all go according to plan, the Marg Lee-trained son of Four Starzzz Shark will then progress the semi-finals and ultimately the Final, which is scheduled to be run at Melton on July 7.

“That was his first run in almost four months, so he will certainly be better for it,” Lee said. “He was pretty forward and I expected a big run from him, but he’ll tighten up with that run under his belt.

“The Vicbred is what I have set out for him, so he will head towards a heat now.”

Driven by Glen Craven, Jilliby Kung Fu occupied the ‘death seat’ before scoring by a neck from the pacemaker, Wrappers Delight, with Yerrington Bob 16 metres away third.

Rating 1:56.8 over 2190 metres, the Australian Pacing Gold purchase stretched his record to 15 wins and 10 placings from 30 starts for earnings of $496,110.

Following his Vicbred obligations Jilliby Kung Fu may be taken north to contest The Blacks A Fake at Albion Park on July 21.

Part of Queensland’s Winter Carnival, the Group One doubles as the final leg of the Grand Circuit.

“Queensland is something being considered with him, but any decision will wait until after the Vicbred,” Lee said.
