LOCAL star Scooterwillrev is in prime condition to battle the interstate raiders in Hobart on Saturday night.
That’s the call from trainer Craig Hayes who will contest the Tasmania Cup with the classy son of Somebeachsomewhere.
Winner of his heat a fortnight ago, Scooterwillrev is regarded as the best chance to keep the trophy on the Apple Isle from barrier three.
Harjeet is also rated highly but faces a near impossible task from a 30-metre back mark against 13 rivals!
“I couldn’t be happier with him,” Hayes said. “He has been working the house down since his heat and is in perfect shape.
“He has a nice handy draw and I’d say he can cross to the front.
“The two on his outside will begin well, but he can go forward as good as them at the start.”
The “two” Hayes referred to are Victorians Shelby Bromac and War Dan, which will come from four and five.
Second in his qualifier following a hard run, Sicario is the one to beat according to Hayes.
Winner of the South Australia Cup at his previous outing, Sicario is drawn along the 10-metre line.
“Sicario is still the one to beat,” Hayes said. “He has been there and done it before in big races.
“Shelby Bromac and War Dan would be in the same category as Scooterwillrev, they’ve looked good coming through but have to step up.
“Harjeet can’t be counted out, but he’ll need a bit to go his way from back there.”
