NEW South Wales participants David Munsie and Courtney Sutherland combined for the highest-priced Australian winner of 2018.
Sutherland drove the Munsie-trained Mini Masterpiece to victory in Armidale on November 15, with the daughter of Art Major scoring as the rank outsider over a mile.
Finishing stoutly to account for Always A Jewel and Dashing Hannah, Mini Masterpiece paid a whopping $252.70 with New South Wales TAB.
Ironically, the highest priced winner of 2017 was also a mare, with Capture Me paying $274.20 when successful in Launceston for trainer Ben Yole and driver Natalee Emery.
New South Wales – Tabcorp Park Menangle to be precise – also produced the most lucrative exotic bet, with the BIG6 consisting of Lola Jones, Let It Ride, Double Event, Cherry Stride, Match In Heaven and Empire Bay returning punters $60,942.10 on June 2.
That was followed closely by a Menangle Quaddie which paid $56,244.70 on February 3.
The highest international price was a mouth watering $374 for Avenir’s win in France on February 2.
Away from the winners, the highest placing was $160 via Victorian TAB when Deesse Des Sables filled the minors at Maure De Bretagne in France on November 14.
Those looking for a big score in Victoria may want to spend more time focusing on Bendigo and Shepparton.
Of the 12 betting categories the two venues provided seven of the highest dividends.
In New South Wales, Menangle is a big payout paradise, with the track responsible for seven of the 12 highest dividends.
