Market highlights strength of Group One

TAB’S Fixed Market highlights the strength of Saturday night’s Len Smith Mile.

Odds for the Club Menangle-based Group One were just released moments ago, with locally-trained pacer Majestic Cruiser and Victorian raider, Honolua Bay, sharing favouritism.

Drawn barriers two and three, the pair are listed at $2.80.

Majestic Cruiser was a handy fifth last weekend in what was his first run in three months, while Honolua Bay has been kept fresh since his second in the Victoria Cup in Melton on October 8.

While the pair battle for top spot on the market, comeback pacer Wolf Stride is surprisingly at double figures despite his recent victory around the 1400-metre circuit.

In his first outing for 10 weeks, Wolf Stride scored in 1:54.6 over 2300 metres.

The Darren Binskin-trained gelding has since trialled in 1:49.6 over a mile yet is at $12 from barrier six.

On the subject of recent sub 1:50 performances, Blacksadance smashed the Albion Park record with his 1:49.2 victory over 1660 metres on September 10.

Winner of his last three starts, Blacksadance has also scored during two trials since his record run, including an effortless 1:50.5 outing.

Despite his credentials heading into the $100,000 major Blacksadance is also at $12.
