HAVING drawn perfectly in his Inter Dominion heat tonight, Joes Star Of Mia remains a live chance of forcing his way into next week’s Group One Final.

Sitting on just 11 points following two luckless qualifiers, Joes Star Of Mia has a prime opportunity to earn the required points for trainer Steve Turnbull.

Set to begin from the pole, the son of Roll With Joe needs to finish in the top two to be guaranteed a start.

A minor placing will see Joes Star Of Mia precariously positioned for a berth in the $500,000 decider at Tabcorp Park Melton.

“We haven’t had the best of luck with draws,” Turnbull said. “Then when he’s made a run he has been caught wide, but been finishing race well.

“There will be no excuses from that draw tonight and hopefully he can do what is needed to get into the Final.”

One factor against Joes Star Of Mia’s prospects is his opposition.

The gelding is in the same field as three of the five heats winners – Wrappers Delight, Spankem and Galactic Star.

“It’s fair to say it is the hardest of the heats,” Turnbull said. “Having the main three off the back certainly helps.

“If he doesn’t get into the Final at the very least he will be in the Consolation, which we will stay in Melbourne for.”
