ALTHOUGH he has stayed steady in the betting, Betterzippit has attracted the most attention from punters ahead of Friday night’s The Nullarbor at Gloucester Park.
Trained by New South Wales-based horseman Jason Grimson, Betterzippit was listed at $5 when TAB Fixed Odds opened its pre-draw market.
Despite several bets coming after the son of Betterthancheddar drew barrier four, his price has stayed the same.
“Betterzippit has been the one TAB punters have come for since markets opened for the Nullarbor on Tuesday afternoon,” TAB’s Hamish Ferguson said.
“He is the best backed runner in the market accounting for nearly half of all investments on the feature.”
Interestingly, most of the field has drifted, even if ever-so-slightly, including Magnificent Storm, which is $1.65, out from $1.60..
Punters have been willing to bet against the favourite, with the likes of Jumpingjackmac tightening from $31 to $18 from barrier five.
“There has also been a little nibble for Jumpingjackmac which has nearly halved his price,” Ferguson said.
“Mighty Ronaldo rounds out the top three in terms of money held at juicy odds of $34, having opened at $51 and drawing wide in nine.”
