STILL dealing with the after affects of her horrific race fall, Victorian horsewoman Charlene Gusman has had her pain increased.

Gusman was involved in a fall during the last race at Shepparton on June 11, which saw her catapulted into the air before crashing to the track.

Immediately in agony, Gusman was taken to hospital, where she was diagnosed with four broken ribs and muscle damage in her bicep region.

“Originally they thought my arm was broken, but it’s muscle and tissue damage,” Gusman said. “I’ve got four broken ribs, which will keep me out for a while, but it won’t stop me from driving again!”

With the discomfort easing during the past three weeks, Gusman felt a different kind of pain when the draw for Saturday night’s The Rising Sun was released.

Making the long trip to Albion Park with her stable star Hes Charlies Angel, Gusman was “gutted” when the son of Sweet Lou received gate 12.

Hes Charlies Angel earned a berth in the $350,000 feature by scoring in Melton last weekend.

“He pretty much couldn’t have drawn worse,” Gusman said. “Outside of the front or 13 maybe, but they wouldn’t be that much different…we’re going to need a lot of luck from there.

“It’s a step up for him, so he was always going to need things to go his way, but the draw has certainly made the job all the more harder.

“He’s going into it in great shape, so now it’s up to David (Miles, driver) and Lady Luck!”
